Interview and Photographs by Kurt Sayenga
As threatened, here is another interview with a physicist who is exploring the problem of time, although in this case he works in applied physics, which brings us ONE STEP CLOSER to finding someone who can build us a time machine that will take us away from the Year 2025 to somewhere, anywhere else. So let’s wave a big hello to Prof. Nicolas Gisin of the University of Geneva. Gisin studies quantum time effects and the profoundly disturbing phenomenon of quantum nonlocality, which is the ability of two conjoined particles to instantly share information across large distances outside of space/time. If that sentence made no sense to you, read on, because it is yet another thing that shows the universe is vast and largely incomprehensible, so there’s no point in getting upset about how much it’s going to cost you to get your brake pads replaced.
